Sommet Education, a Swiss hospitality education provider, has announced the acquisition of a strategic share in the Indian School of Hospitality, a Gurgaon-based school founded by hospitality expert Dilip Puri
Sommet Education, the multinational hospitality education business that owns the Glion and Le Roches campuses, has entered India by taking a majority stake in Dilip Puri’s Indian School of Hospitality (ISH).
Sommet Education is bringing its two prominent institutions to India: École Ducasse, a global education reference in culinary and pastry arts, and Les Roches, one of the world’s premier hotel business schools, with this strategic interest acquisition. Benoît-Etienne Domenget, CEO of Sommet Education, commented on the news: “Sommet Education is building and expanding the world’s largest hospitality and culinary education network. As a result, we have a presence in nations where the hospitality and allied sectors are a significant component of the economic dynamic. We are pleased to join with ISH in providing internationally recognised levels of hospitality, culinary, and management education to Indian students within the country.”
In Gurugram, ISH runs one of the country’s most prestigious hospitality education campuses (Delhi NCR). ISH has been offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree, diploma, and certificate programmes since its inception in 2018.
By joining the Sommet Education network, ISH will be able to expand its programme portfolio by offering students the opportunity to study semesters abroad, begin their studies in India and finish them in another Sommet Education institution, and enrol in new programmes such as an MBA in Les Roches, Switzerland.
“Our philosophy has always been to give students with an extraordinary quality of education through an international curriculum and pedagogy, world-class technology and facilities, as well as renowned academic and research faculty,” said Dilip Puri, Founder & CEO of ISH. We will be able to strengthen our products, extend our footprint across India and in neighbouring countries, and be a part of Sommet’s famous network of 18 campuses in 8 countries and 60,000 influential alumni by partnering with Sommet Education. By bringing two of the world’s greatest brands in hospitality management and culinary education together, we will be able to better serve industry need for hospitality leaders.
École Ducasse will make its debut in India with this cooperation, with ambitions to open a network of schools around the region over the next three years, offering culinary and pastry arts programmes to young students and professionals. Les Roches, which was founded in 1954, will enhance ISH’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes by hosting academic and research exchanges and workshops. Students at ISH will be able to study at its campuses in Crans-Montana (Switzerland), Marbella, and Shanghai, with postgraduates having the option of pursuing an MBA or master’s degree in Switzerland or Spain. Within the next three years, the cooperation is intended to set the framework for the establishment of a second campus in India.
